Lucknow Runs for Fitness Avadh and Premlata Win Big at the Sixth Edition of Lucknow Run

Lucknow – On October 27, 2024, the city of Nawabs woke up to the thunder of thousands of footsteps as the Lucknow Run Half Marathon kicked off from GD Goenka Public School, Sushant Golf City. This sixth edition was more than just a race — it was a spirited movement for health and environmental awareness.

With participation from schoolchildren, military personnel, corporates, fitness groups, and citizens from all walks of life, the event featured races across four key distances: 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km. From seasoned runners to first-timers, the streets of Lucknow were alive with motivation, camaraderie, and a powerful message: fitness and sustainability go hand in hand.

Half Marathon Highlights

In the 21 km men’s category, Avadh Narayan Yadav clinched first place, followed by Shivam Kumar and Vivek Singh. On the women’s side, Premlata Gupta emerged victorious, with Priyanka Bhattal and Balwinder Kaur rounding out the podium.

The 10 km men’s race saw Madhur take gold, while Ja Ke Pu Ing stood atop the women’s podium in the same category. The fun runs in the 3 km and 5 km segments attracted enthusiastic participation from all age groups, emphasizing community involvement over competition.

A Grand Celebration of Fitness and Responsibility

The event was flagged off by Lt. Gen. Mukesh Chadha, Chief of Staff, Central Command, and was supported by several dignitaries and institutions, including the Film Director Association, IAS officer Naveen Arora, IFS officer Avnish Singh, IRRI India, and corporate leaders.

Sarvesh Goel, the visionary founder of Lucknow Run and Chairman of GD Goenka School, emphasized that the run is a symbol of the city’s growing commitment to health, wellness, and environmental sustainability. The event also served to spread awareness about tree plantation and reducing carbon footprints.

More Than Just a Race

All winners received trophies, medals, and digital certificates, while every participant was given a finisher’s medal and e-certificate. The highlight of the event was Dr. Kapil Dev, who completed the 21 km run in a record 58 minutes at the age of 58, inspiring runners across generations.

The run concluded with a celebratory moment on the podium and group cheers that echoed across the campus, marking yet another successful chapter in Lucknow’s journey toward a healthier, greener future.
